NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY

Emergency Exits

Located at port, starboard, bow, and stern.

Life Jackets

Located in the large bins labeled “PFD” both on the upper and lower decks. The Captain/Crew will notify passengers if life jackets should be put on.

Emergency Cell Phone

Use cell phone to call 911 and alert Captain/Crew of emergency.

Fire Extinguishers

Located at the helm and by the rear exits. In case of fire, use extinguisher and notify Captain/Crew of fire’s location immediately.

First Aid Kits

Located at the helm with the Captain. Notify Captain/Crew if first aid kit is needed.

Man Overboard

JUMPING FROM THIS VESSEL IS PROHIBITED AND WILL RESULT IN THE END OF THE FUNCTION REGARDLESS OF START AND END TIME. Should someone fall into the water, announce “Man overboard,” and notify Captain/Crew immediately. Throwable life-rings are located on the back walls and should be thrown to the person in the water. Have a spotter keep a close watch on the person in the water until the Captain can maneuver for pickup. Use any floating items as additional markers.

Abandon Ship

In the unlikely event that the need for abandoning this vessel occurs, the Captain/Crew will notify all passengers when and where to do so. Please note the numerous exit points from the lower level. Proceed calmly to the life-jacket storage and put on.

Explosion

In case of explosion, be ready to go overboard with a life jacket. When clear of danger, account for all passengers and assist. Stay together.

Leaks or Damage Control

Put on life jackets. If you can see the hole, stuff anything in it to plug it. Notify Captain/Crew, who will signal for help and bring the boat to ground.

Rough Water

In the unlikely event of rough water, put on a life jacket, tie down loose equipment, close all doors, and wait for instruction from the Captain/Crew.a

Safety and Orientation

Rules and Safety:

A. All Capital Cruises vessels are equipped with life jackets for each person. These are located in the bins marked “Adult PFDs,” are orange, one-size-fits-all, and donned by putting the jacket over your head and running the strap around your back and connecting the clips of the strap in the front. If you have questions regarding location or usage, please ask any Capital Cruises employee.

B. All Capital Cruises vessels are equipped with fire extinguishers and first aid kits. Upon boarding, please note where these are located. The Captain of the vessel will also note the location of these items upon departure.

C. NO SWIMMING IS ALLOWED ON LADY BIRD LAKE. It is strictly forbidden to jump from any Capital Cruises vessel. If you or any of your party jumps from the boat into the lake, your cruise will be terminated and full payment will be due. In the unlikely event that a passenger falls overboard, please find the nearest life vest or life ring, and throw it to the person in the water. Notify Capital Cruises staff immediately and our staff will take appropriate action. Under no circumstance should you go in after a person overboard.

D. SMOKING ON ANY CAPITAL CRUISES VESSEL IS PROHIBITED.

E. Drunken or belligerent behavior will not be tolerated and is grounds for cruise termination.

F. Trash receptacles are provided on each vessel. All trash must be put in the appropriate containers and should never be put in the lake.

G. All passengers are to stay off the rails of any Capital Cruises vessel, as they are not intended for sitting or climbing. Passengers are to stay inside the railing at all times. 

Covenant of Good Faith: I recognize that you, the provider of services, will operate under covenant of good faith and fair dealing, but you may find necessary to terminate an activity due to forces of nature, medical necessities, or other problems. You may also deny the participation of any person you judge to be incapable of meeting the rigors or requirements of participating in the activity. I accept your right to take such actions for the safety of myself and/or other participants.

Release and Acknowledgment: In consideration of services or property provided, I, for myself (and any minor children for which I am parent, legal guardian, or otherwise responsible), any heirs, personal representatives, or assigns agree that: Capital Cruises, its principals, directors, officers, agents, employees and volunteers, their insurers and each and every land owner, municipal and/or governmental agency upon whose property and activity is conducted and their insurers, if any, shall have no liability of any nature for any and all damage to me and other persons or properties as a result of any acts, omissions or negligence of the “owner” or any other person (including myself) or entity and I hereby release and discharge owner and insurer, if any for any such damage. I acknowledge the safety items above, realize that no life guard is on duty aboard any Capital Cruises vessel, and am proceeding at my own risk.

My acknowledgment is represented by my signature on the passenger list.
